Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter born on September 4, 1981 is known by her stage name Beyoncé. She is an American singer, songwriter, producer and actress. She was born and raised in Houston, Texas, where she was first exposed to singing and dancing competitions as a child. In the late 1990s she became the lead singer of the R&B girl group Destiny's Child, that went on to be one of the world's best-selling girl groups of all time.

 

In 2002, Beyonce went on to become a solo artist and released her first album titled Dangerously in Love (2003) that was able to hold two spots on the Hot 100 Billboard charts. The album went on to become to most sucessfull album that was released that year.

 

In April 2008, Knowles married American rapper Jay-Z, and gave birth to their first child, Blue Ivy Carter, in January 2012. She has sold 75 million records worldwide, making her one of the best-selling music artists of all time.
